Fundraiser for POSIDEN’KI Social Club
June 29 @ 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
FreeJoin us in supporting our innovative program for Ukrainian newcomers and ladies 60+, called Posiden’ki Social Club. It could also benefit all Canadian seniors.
Posiden’ki is designed for Ukrainian or Russian-speaking women aged 60 and above, whether you’re new to Canada or have been part of the community for years. In our current group, approximately two-thirds are Ukrainian newcomers, while the remaining third are locals who have lived in Canada for 20 years or more. Additionally, our participants often bring their family members, including kids and grandkids, making our gatherings inclusive family events. Lean more about Posiden’ki.
Why Posiden’ki Matters
- Combatting Loneliness and Isolation: Many seniors in Canada, especially since Covid, face loneliness and social isolation. Our program helps alleviate these issues by fostering a sense of community and belonging.
- Multilingual Environment: Our sessions are conducted in Ukrainian, Russian, and English, providing brain stimulation and a comforting atmosphere for participants.
- Engaging Activities: We make our sessions fun, informative, and engaging, incorporating activities that stimulate both the body and the brain.
- Preventive Health Benefits: Our program incorporates scientifically-backed activities, such as brain fitness exercises, music therapy and dance movements, which are known to be good for brain stimulation and can serve as a preventive measure against dementia.
- Positive Feedback: Participants consistently share positive feedback, highlighting how Posiden’ki helps them learn new things, make friends, and feel happy.
- Potential for Expansion: With your help, we could continue running Posiden’ki in North York and potentially expand to other areas in Toronto, benefiting even more seniors.
Statistics on Loneliness in Canada
- Nearly 1 in 4 seniors in Canada report feeling isolated from others.
- Loneliness can increase the risk of dementia by 50%.
- Social isolation is as harmful to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
Our program makes people happy and we have many photos and videos to prove it!
