DESCRIPTION:🌿 Program for July 11\, 2025 \nWe’re meeting at Downsview Hub (70 Canuck Ave) and then heading out for a walk in the park together.Once we find a nice spot\, we’ll settle in for a picnic—so don’t forget to bring food/snacks\, a blanket or yoga mat to sit on\, and plenty of good energy! \nHere’s what we’ve planned:🧘‍♀️ Yoga stretching and light dance moves with Sabina📝 English lesson with Galina — please bring a notebook and two pens of different colors📣 Club updates and time to connect \nIt will be a relaxed\, fun\, and uplifting day—hope to see you there! \nAbout Posiden’ki \nThe challenges of loneliness and social isolation are profound for Ukrainian newcomers 60+ who arrived in Canada due to the war in Ukraine. The difficulties are magnified as they navigate a new country where they may not know many people\, face language barriers\, and find themselves alone when younger family members are at school or at work. This isolation can intensify\, leaving elderly relatives predominantly at home and further disconnected. We recognize the unique struggles faced by these individuals and aim to provide meaningful solutions that foster connection\, community\, and a sense of belonging. \nOur program is designed with a purpose — to enhance the lives of Ukrainian newcomers\, ladies aged 60 and above\, whether newcomers or those that have been part of the Canadian community for some time. \nOur mission is to combat loneliness and social isolation\, reduce stress and anxiety\, and enhance the memory and cognitive abilities of our participants. This not only promotes a healthier mental state\, but also serves as a preventive measure against early cognitive decline and conditions such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s. \nWe’ll do it with carefully crafted\, fun and scientifically-backed activities delivered in Russian and Ukrainian\, the group’s native languages. The lake is typically warm in July and great for a swim!\nFishing – Try your luck from shore. Free fishing rods will be available! (No license needed on Canada Day.)\nHiking – Explore beautiful forest trails\, McLaughlin Bay\, and meadows.\nBiking – Bring your bikes!
